Attack Strategy: Dragloon
Dragloon is a viable war strategy for TH 7s and new TH8s. It consists of filling the army camps with dragons, and bringing (preferably lvl 6+) loons in the cc. It's easy to use, and cheap/at no cost for dark elixir, but drains your elixir storages.
This strategy does not lure cc, but attacks them inside the base. Note: this strategy is viable as a farming strategy too, especially for dark, where you can even use them to reach the dark storages at maxed TH8-9 provided the dragons are upgraded accordingly.
One of the questions frequently asked, is: what to do with the heros? Heros are still important in this attack. Depending on the base, the function of the king could be any of the following: funneling, taking down an enemy hero (which could distract drag pathing), suicide heros (at TH9) to take down an air defense, etc. We'll look at different examples of their usage in this guide.
From what side should I attack? There is no right answer, but generally, you want to

From what side should I attack? There is no right answer, but generally, you want to
- Avoid coming in a direction opposing the air sweeper (it messes attacks up)
- Come in a direction closest to the air defense (to take them out quicker) - this means that, at TH8, if you're zapquaking (2 lightning+quake) an air defense, it should be the farthest one from where you're attacking
Funneling
While the concept of funneling follows the general idea of this article, the mechanics of air funneling (since walls don't apply) are different - one can't funnel dragons into a single compartment.
The funneling strategy is simple:
- Pick a side (not a corner) of a base to attack.
- Drop a drag at the two corners adjacent to the selected sides. However, if those corners have builder huts in the edge of the base, drop the drags there instead. (Not doing this can lead result in running out of time)
- Wait for the dragons to clear a few buildings on each corner
- Deploy the dragons around the of the selected side, with a spread of around 1/2 the base length.
- Deploy the cc loons right behind the main drags after a 2 seconds
TH7 Dragloon
I have found that bringing 3 rages is the most effective along with the dragloon. The major locations for rages would be:
- Dealing with cc troops
- near a group of high-hit point buildings while in the range of the air defense
- Air defense
Using rages
A couple of guidelines
- Don't overlap them. It's a waste of spell area.
TH8 Dragloon
TH8 Dragloon is slightly more complicated with many more buildings, and higher-level air defenses. Spell compositions vary, but one popular one is two lightning + quake to take down an air defense. This composition, mentioned before, is called zapquake. If you have another free spell space, bring poison to counter cc.
